Description

Located on the sheltered north west coast of St Lucia, Rodney Bay is established as the tourism centre on the island. The marina is a port of entry and has established itself as one of the largest marinas in the Caribbean. Rodney Bay is located some twenty minutes north of Castries, with the G F L Charles Airport located on the northern outskirts of the capital.

Rodney Bay marina has evolved over a period of twenty five years and is now home to a range of business, restaurants and bars catering to the tourist market with an emphasis on yachting. In 2007, the marina was acquired by IGY (Island Global Yachting), the leading marina operator specializing in mega yacht marina operation. IGY undertook a substantial redevelopment of the marina which was completed in 2008 at a cost of US$20M. The marina now caters to over 230 yachts with dedicated facilities for 32 mega yachts up to 300 feet in length. The harbour entrance has been dredged to 15 feet to accommodate these vessels. The Rodney Bay area continues to develop with new developments including Baywalk Mall, a mixed use development including retail, residential and a casino.

As part of the 2007 acquisition, IGY also acquired the nearby Pope’s Hill site, the largest remaining development site fronting Rodney Bay. With the main phase of the marina development now complete, this site remains superfluous to IGY’s requirements.

The site has received approval in principal for the development of a mixed use residential resort development. The approval is for 102 residential units with 64 berthing slips. The vendor has applied for, and received, a range of concessions related to the development of the site.
